Rolling Over

At your baptismal party, we observed you trying to roll over. Auntie Karen said it would be soon.

She was right. One week and a day later on your very own you decided that you were ready to make that move. Papa and me couldn't believe it. We knew that this was going to happen but to see you doing it makes us so proud. Our little girl is growing up.

Beautiful Baptism

Yes, the day was hot and sticky. The last minute preparations had daddy and nina running around. Mommy was trying to make everything perfect. You were as cute as a button. The only fear we had was the reaction you would have once the actual baptism occurred.

Mommy dressed you. The plan was that your nina would dress you since you were wearing her gown but the last minute running around was not on our side.

We arrived at the church where mommy and daddy got married. We were late to the church but we were there. There was a small crowd. Father Mallette presided over your ceremony. He also married mommy and daddy and that just makes it all more special.

Of course, Father Mallette kept us all laughing during the ceremony. And when it came time to pour the water over you, you did awesome! Father Mallette drenched you. He poured the water over your face three times and you didn't even cry. Everyone laughed because it was so cute.

After the ceremony, it was official. Your auntie and your cousin are now your godparents.

We came home to a small crowd for your party. It eventually grew into a nice crowd. Our wonderful family and friends came to share in our joy of welcoming you into the church.

Your cake was made by the amazing Sami.

The cake was so pretty that no one wanted to be the first to have a piece. So auntie Sami took the first piece. The cake was not only pretty but the cake was very delicious. She is truly talented.

Part of the Mexican tradition is to have a piñata. I was really excited about this because since your birthday is in the winter, there are going to be very few of these. It was fun to see all the kids excited for the treats. Or, maybe they just wanted to beat the piñata.

Your cousin Ed broke the bat.

All in all, your day was a hit. I only wish I had taken more pictures. But you can't be the photographer at your own party. I either enjoyed your day with you or I would watch it go by. And I prefer to enjoy the day with you.
